INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest 101-71 at Simpson College on Saturday afternoon.
Knox led 4-3 in the early going, but the Storm started pulling away in the middle of the first half. Simpson took an 11 point lead with 8:47 left in the half, but the Prairie Fire cut the deficit to five in the next two minutes. The Storm quickly took a double digit lead again and led 46-31 at halftime.
Knox cut into the lead briefly at the beginning of the second half, but Simpson quickly took control and cruised to the 30 point victory.
Jordan Rayner led the Prairie Fire with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Chikwere Nwosu put up a career high 15 points off the bench.
"We put up another respectable shooting percentage for the game and actually outrebounded Simpson," said head coach Ben Davis. "Unfortunately 30 turnover isn't going to cut it, we need to control the ball better."
Knox returns to action on November 29 as they travel to Grinnell to open up Midwest Conference play.
