GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a pair of conference games to the University of Chicago to move to 3-5 in league play. The Maroons won game one 25-0 and game two 15-13 in 10 innings.

Chicago scored five runs in the first inning of game one to get on the board early. By the fourth inning they led 21-0. Knox managed just three hits in the game.

The Prairie Fire scored first in game two, but the Maroons erupted for seven runs in the third and fourth innings to take the lead. The Prairie Fire battled back to take a 10-8 lead in the sixth. The sides exchanged three run innings in the top of the seventh and bottom of the eighth to give Knox a 13-11 edge heading into the ninth. Chicago scored twice to send the game to extra innings and then scored two more runs in the 10th inning to seal the victory.

Cole Tanner led the Prairie Fire with three hits on the day. He added a pair of RBI. Etienne Thomas also added two hits and three RBI. Chris McTeague and Evan Laws each tallied two hits.

"We bounced back big time after the first game," said associate head coach James Clark. "We had them on the ropes in game two and just couldn't quite finish it off. I am very proud of the fight we showed today."

Knox returns to action as they travel to Monmouth on April 18 for a doubleheader.
