GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest 2-0 to the University of Dubuque on Wednesday evening.
Early on, the teams traded some shots. The Spartans broke through with a goal in the 37th minute to break the tie. Dubuque then converted a header off of a corner kick just before halftime to take a 2-0 lead at the break.
Overall, the Spartans outshot Knox 14-6 in the game. Dubuque held a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Carina Escobar picked up six saves for the Prairie Fire in goal.
"We played well overall today," said head coach Rob Battisson. "We saw a lot of good things and Dubuque took advantage of their opportunities. We also had some good shots on goal, but just could not quite convert."
The Prairie Fire return to action on September 18 as they travel to North Central College.
