GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team hosted the Fighting Scots of Monmouth and they ended up on the losing end 78-85.

Knox jumped out to an 11-4 lead early in the first half and still held a 34-27 point lead with 6:13 left in the half. Monmouth took control from there to take a 42-36 lead at halftime.

The Prairie Fire pulled within four points with 13:43 to play, but the Fighting Scots took a double-digit lead soon after and maintained it for the majority of the remaining time to hold on for the victory.

Sean Gallery put in an amazing effort with 26 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Rayner was the second leading scorer with 23 points and some terrific assists as well.

"We played very well at times against a very good Monmouth team," said head coach Ben Davis. "It was a great atmosphere and we stayed fired up the whole game thanks to our amazing fan support."

The next game for the Fire is at Lawrence University and looks to be a good spot for them to get back to their winning ways after their two game win streak was broken.
