Men's Soccer Ties With Beloit

GALESBURG, IL - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team tied with Beloit College 1-1 Saturday afternoon.

The Prairie Fire celebrated five seniors and also their superfan award recipient, Keisha Davis, during their match-up against Beloit.

The Buccaneers scored first in the 22nd minute of play, and held the 1-0 lead going into the half.

With just over five minutes of play left in the game, Alek Esper put one in for the Prairie Fire, tallying his first goal of the season.

The Prairie Fire outshot the Buccaneers 16-6 overall, with a 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

"We had a bit of a slow start today," said head coach Kevwe Akpore. "We let Beloit get ahead early and unfortunately we were unable to respond until time was almost out. We were definitely shooting the ball, but today we just couldn't seem to land them where we wanted. Although maybe not the outcome we were hoping for, I am happy we had the opportunity to celebrate and honor some amazing people today."

The Prairie Fire will travel to Monmouth on October 17th for their next conference match-up against the Scots.
