MONMOUTH, IL - Men's soccer defeats Monmouth College 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Joel Sanchez put the Prairie Fire on the board first with a goal in the 38th minute of play. Knox kept the lead 1-0 going into the half.
Monmouth evened the score with a goal in the 56th minute of play. Arito Nakamichi gave Knox the lead again less than a minute later with an assist from Eusebio King-Mills.
The Prairie Fire outshot the Scots 17-10 overall with a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal.
"Monmouth is always an exciting game for us, but it is also always a challenging one especially playing on their home field " said Head Coach Kevwe Akpore. "We were able to get ahead early and I think that was huge for us. We played hard and worked to keep the momentum on our side and with that we were able to get ourselves a big win today."
The Prairie fire will return to action on October 21st as they travel to Lawrence University.
