MONMOUTH, IL - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped a conference match-up with Monmouth College 3-0 Wednesday afternoon.
The Scots got an early lead with a goal in the sixth minute of play. Monmouth managed to score again in the 12th minute giving them a 2-0 lead.
The Scots scored once more in the 84th minute of play to seal their 3-0 victory over the Prairie Fire.
The Scots outshot the Prairie Fire 36-3 overall with a 19-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Sara Mirani tallied 14 saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.
"It was a tough match" said Head Coach Annie Gerdes. "We struggled a bit in the first half but made some much needed adjustments in the second half. We continue to battle every minute and I'm proud of how we turned around in the second half."
The Prairie Fire will travel to Lawrence University on October 21st for their next conference match-up.
