MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team dropped a close conference matchup to Cornell on Sunday evening.

The game between Knox and the Rams was suspended on October 11 with about 24 minutes remaining and Cornell leading 1-0 after a goal in the 11th minute. The Rams held on for the 1-0 victory.

Manu Mariano fired off five shots and Nicolas Lantzendorffer grabbed 11 saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.

"This has been a tough weekend for us," said head coach Kevwe Akpore. "We knew going in that we'd need to play well to try to force a tie and we definitely came at them with everything we had. Now we will have to prepare for Ripon next weekend and give it our all one more time and see how things shake out."

Knox will return to action on October 25 as they travel to University of Wisconsin - Whitewater before returning home for their final game of the regular season agains Ripon on October 28 for Homecoming.
