GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's basketball team defeated Eureka 82-58 on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils took a 7-5 lead early in the first half, but Knox scored eight straight points to take a 13-7 lead. The Prairie Fire held an 18-12 lead after the first quarter.
Eureka went on a 9-5 run to begin the second period, but Knox used a 20-6 run to close out the half with a 16 point lead.
The Prairie Fire expanded their lead even further in the third quarter, outscoring the Red Devils 22-11.
Eureka ended the game on an 18-13 run, but it was too little too late.
Sarina Dacio and Kylee Callahan paced Knox with 19 points apiece. Callahan added eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Bria Medina poured in 12 points along with five assists and three steals. Loraya Rocha tallied nine points, six steals, and five assists.
"We started out slow in this one, but definitely made some great adjustments," said head coach Seth McDowell. "It's been a great start to the season, but now we have to take care of business in the conference."
The Prairie Fire will return to action on November 28 as they host Grinnell to open Midwest Conference play.
