SPRINGFIELD, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped an exhibition game to University of Illinois - Springfield (UIS) 104-51 on Wednesday night.
Knox held a slight 6-5 advantage early in the game, but the Prairie Stars finished the first half on a 49-13 run to take a 54-19 into halftime.
The Prairie Fire kept pace with UIS early in the second half, but the Prairie Stars began pulling away further and earned the victory.
Sean O'Neal led Knox with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Sean Gallery added seven points and Cade Windham and Carl Dortch tallied six points apiece.
"It is always fun to play against a high level team," said head coach Ben Davis. "UIS is ranked eighth in the Midwest Region for Division II basketball, so this was a great experience for us that will set us up well for the rest of our season."
The Prairie Fire will host Emmaus Bible College on December 15 before heading to Hawaii for the Hoops in Hawaii Classic next week.
