Baseball Falls to Eureka 12-0

EUREKA, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a non-conference game at Eureka 12-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Devils scored a pair in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. Eureka added two in the third and two in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. The Red Devils then erupted for six more runs in the sixth to force a mercy rule after seven innings.

Jason Clark led Knox with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while Cole Shepherd added a hit of his own.

Josh Notini worked out of a jam in the sixth after coming on in relief. He allowed two hits, but recorded three outs for no earned runs.

"We just didn't come to play today," said associate head coach James Clark. "We had no energy and all the good things that we saw on Sunday disappeared. This was a major step back for us and we'll need to focus over the next few days so we can play better this weekend."

Knox will host St. Louis School of Pharmacy on March 5.
