Baseball Drops Series Finale at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped the series finale to Monmouth 12-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

Knox struck first when Evan Laws hit a solo home-run in the top of the first inning. Jason Clark walked with the bases loaded in the second inning to give the Prairie Fire a 2-0 lead.

The Fighting Scots proceeded to score nine runs over the next three innings to take a decisive lead. Monmouth scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to end the game early.

"We played well for the first two innings and then as soon as things started going poorly, we just fell flat," said associate head coach James Clark. "Things haven't been going our way recently, but we will get back to work and finish the season strong."

Knox returns to action on April 12 as they travel to Illinois Wesleyan for a non-conference game.
