GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped the series finale to Lawrence 12-6 on Sunday.
The Vikings scored twice in the top of the first inning, while Knox responded with a run in the bottom half. Lawrence would go on to score two runs in each of the second and third innings and add another in the fourth. The Prairie Fire plated a pair in the bottom of the fourth to cut into the lead, but the Vikings got them both back in the top of the fifth.
Joe Krantz came on in relief for Knox and put up zeroes in the sixth and seventh. The Prairie Fire scored twice in the seventh to bring the game within four runs. Lawrence scored three in the eighth to take a 12-5 lead and Knox got one back in the bottom half.
Andrew Garrett, Evan Laws, and Joe Williams tallied two hits apiece to lead the Prairie Fire.
"We fought back a few times today and showed more heart than yesterday," said associate head coach James Clark. "We still make too many silly mistakes that give the other team too many runs. We have four games left to correct those things heading into next season."
Knox returns to action on May 3 as they travel to the University of Chicago for a single game.
