CHICAGO, Illinois - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a conference game to the University of Chicago on Wednesday afternoon.
The Maroons scored six runs over the first two innings to take an early lead. Knox responded with a run in the third.
Chicago scored four more in the fourth and the Prairie Fire pushed across as run in the fifth on an RBI triple from Cole Shepherd.
The Maroons scored two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to earn a 14-2 victory.
Shepherd and Holden Jones led Knox with two hits apiece.
"We did not field the ball well today at all. Starting pitcher Ira Moore got ground balls, but they either snuck through or we could not handle them," said associate head coach James Clark. "Our offense only clicked in two innings so overall not a great recipe for success."
The Prairie Fire return to action on May 6 as they travel to Grinnell for a conference doubleheader.
