SAINT PETERS, Minnesota - The Prairie Fire men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus in their season opener.
The Gusties scored in the seventh minute of the game to take an early lead. Knox goalkeeper Nicolas Lantzendorffer racked up nine save on the day against a tough Gustavus Adolphus team that lost in the NCAA Quarterfinal to University of Chicago last fall.
"We knew that Gustavus Adolphus would be a tough team," said head coach Kevwe Akpore. "After allowing an early goal we were able to keep the game close thanks to some excellent play in goal by Nicolas. This was a tough test and we will take the lessons we learned to our upcoming games."
The Prairie Fire return to action on September 3 as they remain in Minnesota to battle No. 14 St. Olaf.
