GRINNELL, Iowa - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a Midwest Conference game to Grinnell 111-104 on Tuesday night.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 14-2 lead early in the first half, but Knox came roaring back to tie the game at 20-20. After some back and forth, Grinnell held a slight 49-48 advantage at halftime.
The teams exchanged leads throughout the early portion of the second half and the Prairie Fire held an 81-77 lead with 9:44 to play. The Pioneers then used a 16-4 run to take a 93-85 lead with 6:14 left in the game. Grinnell maintained their lead the rest of the game to earn the victory.
Sean Gallery led Knox with 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Andrew Milot added 24 points and five assists. Chikere Nwosu poured in 18 points and dished out six assists.
"Grinnell is always tough on the road, but we were right there with them until the very end," said head coach Ben Davis. "Now we turn our attention to Monmouth this weekend, an always fun rivalry game."
The Prairie Fire return to action on January 27 as they travel to Monmouth for the first game in the season series against the Fighting Scots.
