LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Host Lake Forest College showed why it is undefeated on the season in its homecoming game against the visiting Knox College Prairie Fire on Saturday afternoon at Farwell Field, cruising to a 42-0 victory in front of 1,457 fans. Langston Metoyer caught two touchdowns and A.J. Jackson ran for two more to help improve the Foresters to 4-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Midwest Conference.
Senior linebacker Anthony Garcia provided one of the few highlights for Knox (2-2, 1-2 MWC) with a third-quarter interception. The Prairie Fire offense was limited to eight first downs and 128 total yards, while Lake Forest amassed 399 yards.
The Foresters reached the end zone on each of its three possession in the first half, plus scored a fourth on a blocked punt that was returned 20 yards for a touchdown, giving Lake Forest a 28-0 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, Lake Forest added a 17-yard touchdown pass and a 4-yard scoring scamper to complete the scoring.
- Knox won the battle of possession with its offense on the field for 31:16, including more than six-and-a-half minutes on its opening drive.
- Garcia's interception gave the Prairie Fire the ball in Forester territory, one of three drives the offense ran a play past midfield.
- Of Knox's 128 yards of offense, 120 came on the ground, though no one player had as many as 30.
- Lake Forest quarterback Joshua Gasca was 20-of-28 for 262 yards with two touchdowns and the one interception.
- Wide receiver Mario Byrd and reserve quarterback Will Vines each had a 13-yard run, the longest play from scrimmage on the afternoon for the Prairie Fire.
- Lake Forest has won each of the last 14 meetings in the series and holds a 33-31 lead all-time.
