Women Blanked on the Road

Lake Forest remained undefeated in league play with a 2-0 win over Knox

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Knox College women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Lake Forest on Saturday afternoon at Mohr Field, as it continues to seek its first conference win of the season. The Prairie Fire (1-9, 0-2) fought hard but were outshot, 22-3, by the dominant Foresters (7-2-2, 3-0) who satisfied the homecoming crowd to remain undefeated in conference play.

Lake Forest struck first in the 29th minute when Izzy DeStefano scored off an assist from Riley Henrichs. Despite several strong saves from Knox goalkeeper Darby Wallig, who tallied 10 saves throughout the match, the Foresters doubled their lead early in the second half. Anna Hoffman found the back of the net in the 49th minute with an assist from Theresa Presberg.

  • Knox struggled to create offensive opportunities, registering only three shots, with one on target from Julia Maron.
  • Lake Forest kept the pressure on with 12 shots on goal and 12 corner kicks throughout the match.

The Prairie Fire will look to bounce back as they host Illinois College on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Jorge Prats Field with live video and stats available through the official athletics website of Knox College, PrairieFire.Knox.edu.
