CLERMONT, Florida - The Prairie Fire softball team continued play in The Spring Games on Saturday afternoon with a 22-0 loss against Ramapo College and a 8-1 win against Nazareth University.
After a scoreless first inning, Ramapo scored ten runs in the top of the second to take an early lead. The Roadrunners continued to push runs across the plate with nine runs in the third and three more in the fourth.
Nazareth scored first with a solo run in the bottom of the first, which would end up being their only run of the game. The Prairie Fire got on the board in the top of the third with two runs. Knox plated two more in the fifth and continued with four more in the sixth.
Maddie Poetzinger and Taylynn Kizer led the Prairie Fire with three hits apiece on the day. Janet Lentini pitched a full game and earned her first collegiate win in game two.
"Game one was rough, but I am glad we were able to bounce back from it and get ourselves a win today" said Head Coach Erin Clark. "Game two was a great game all around and that's how we always need to play and unfortunately game one had too many mistakes and not enough hits from us."
The Prairie Fire will return to action on March 19th for a game against Smith College and a game against SUNY Brockport.
