Baseball Drops Doubleheader to St. Lawrence

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DAVENPORT, Florida - The Prairie Fire baseball team dropped a doubleheader to St. Lawrence 8-7 and 15-3 on Monday afternoon.

The Saints scored one in the bottom of the first and four in the bottom of the third to take an early 5-5 lead in game one.

Knox rallied in the sixth inning as Tyler Kemp doubled home Aidan McMurtrie. Jason Clark singled to bring Luke Mathieu in and Jeff Ripka hit a sacrifice fly to score Kemp. Pinch hitter JD Ruhs singled up the middle to tie the game as Clark and Thomas Wilmot came around to score.

St. Lawrence scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom half, but Clark hit a two-run homer with two outs in the seventh to tie the game.

The Saints got a bloop single to lead off the seventh, the runner stole second and then they sacrifice bunted him to third. St. Lawrence executed a perfect squeeze play to bring in the game-winning run.

In game two, the Saints pushed across two unearned runs in the top of the second and then erupted for nine runs in the third to take the early lead.

Clark finished the day 2-for-3 with the homer, 3 RBI, and a walk. Ruhs, Wilmot, and Nicholas Nitti each added two hits on the day. Nitti, Wilmot, Ruhs, Kemp, and Andrew Garrett each tallied doubles on the day.

Knox returns to action on March 19 as they play Elmhurst in Auburndale, Florida.
