Softball Plays Their Final Day at The Spring Games

CLERMONT, Florida - The Prairie Fire softball team completed their last day at The Spring Games on Sunday afternoon with two losses. Knox first fell to Colby College 11-1 and went on to fall to Westminster College 9-1.

The Prairie Fire scored first with a single run in the top of the first inning against Colby. The Mules plated four runs in the second, and seven more in third to take an 11-1 lead and ultimately secure the win.

Knox came out again in game two against Westminster with a single run in the first to take an early lead. The BlueJays quickly took control in the second with three runs. Westminster continued to bat runs in with five runs in the third and an additional solo run in the fourth to take the win in five innings.

Maya McEwen, Liv Dunn and Taylynn Kizer tallied two hits apiece for the day.

"We definitely have some things to work on when we get back to Galesburg" said Head Coach Erin Clark. "We are seeing some bright spots throughout our games, but I think the biggest challenge we are facing is our consistency on the field. We have the talent, and we just need to work on tightening up our defense, putting more runs on the board and leaving less runners on base throughout the entirety of the game."

The Prairie Fire softball team will continue play on March 29th as they travel to Greenville University for a non-conference doubleheader.
