GALESBURG, Ill. — Playing its fourth game of the 2024 season, the Knox College women's soccer team fell to Illinois Wesleyan University, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Jorge Prats Field. The Prairie Fire (0-4) were unable to match the offensive pressure from the Titans (1-4), who claimed their first win of the season thanks in large part to Liza Wiley's hat trick.
Illinois Wesleyan took control early, scoring their first goal in the 15th minute when Wiley netted an unassisted shot. The Titans added another goal in the 34th minute with Wiley's second tally of the match, assisted by Bree Cordray. Knox was unable to respond before halftime, trailing 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Titans extended their lead just over a minute in, as Ellen Dahlquist scored an unassisted goal in the 47th minute. Wiley completed her hat trick in the 83rd minute, and Taylor Haun capped off the scoring with a goal in the 87th minute.
- Knox goalkeeper Darby Wallig made 11 saves in the first half, while Bri Mahoney relieved her for the second half, recording five saves.
- All four of the Prairie Fire shots were on goal, two courtesy of senior Aleene Ramirez.
- Illinois Wesleyan enjoyed a large shot advantage with 31 total shots, 22 on goal.
