GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference announced its weekly cross country award winners today, and Knox College's Lance Miller was honored as the men's Performer of the Week. Miller is the first Prairie Fire runner for the men to claim the honor in at least a decade.
Miller, a junior from Mascoutah, Illinois, shined at the Bob Schultz Invite last Friday, crossing the tape ahead of every other collegiate runner in the 5K race with a time of 15:17.1. Miller's time was faster than any Knox runner has ever run a 5K, whether on the trails or the track. With his victory, the Prairie Fire finished the event fifth among the seven college teams.
Knox will return to the trails on Sept. 14 when the men's and women's teams race in the Pioneer Gender Equity Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
