CROWN POINT, Ind. — Playing its first road match of the 2024 season, the Knox College women's soccer team fell 4-1 to the Governors State Jaguars on Saturday afternoon at the Sportsplex. Sophomore Emma Sineath recorded the lone goal of the contest for the Prairie Fire (0-2), as the Jaguars (1-2) pulled away in the second half to secure the win.

However, the Jaguars responded quickly, regaining the lead in the 72nd minute through Jinni Jimenez off a feed from Ane Rodrigues.
GSU didn't let up, adding two more goals within the final 10 minutes. Grace McLaughlin extended the lead in the 84th minute before Elin Nilsson finished off the scoring 25 seconds later, with assists from McLaughlin and Rodrigues.
- Knox first-year goalkeeper Darby Wallig played a key role, making several crucial saves, including nine in the second half, to keep the Prairie Fire in the contest.
- Despite the effort, Knox was outshot 34-5, and Governors State held a commanding 20-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The Prairie Fire will continue their road trip as they head over to Notre Dame, Indiana, to face Saint Mary's College on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. EDT (10 a.m. CST).
