GALESBURG, Ill. — Knox College softball head coach Casey Hipp revealed the schedule today for her Prairie Fire team this spring, featuring a season-opening tournament in the Peoria Sports Dome, a 10-game spring trip to Florida and the 16-game Midwest Conference slate that begins in early April.

The softball squad will get its first action on Feb. 20-21 in Peoria against some teams from the region, the first of four games at the indoor venue being against Mount Mary University and concluding with a showdown versus Augustana College the following day.

After a doubleheader at Eureka College on March 11, Knox will travel to Clermont, Florida, for its spring trip against other Northern teams escaping the last vestiges of winter. The Prairie Fire will get plenty of chances to hone their skills with 10 games between March 18-23, battling against a different school in each contest, including Middlebury College, Keene State, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Simpson College and Union College.

Mount Mary will come to town for the home-opening doubleheader on Sunday, March 30, and the MWC competition starts up the following weekend in Galesburg as well with twinbills versus Ripon College (April 5) and Lawrence University (April 6) invading Knox Softball Field. The conference schedule consists of a doubleheader against each of the other eight schools in the league, concluding on May 3 at Cornell College.

Should the Prairie Fire finish in the top four in the standings, they would compete in the double-elimination Midwest Conference Tournament at the site of the regular-season champion May 9-10.
