GALESBURG, Ill. — The script for a Senior Day upset never materialized as the visiting Lake Forest College Foresters scored early and often in a 63-0 blanking of the Knox College football team on Saturday at the Knosher Bowl. Lake Forest (6-3, 6-2 Midwest Conference) amassed 499 yards of offense while holding the Prairie Fire (2-6, 2-5 MWC) to just 53, their fewest in over 20 years.
Knox advanced the ball into Forester territory just three times in the game, the first coming after a 59-yard kickoff return and unsportsmanlike conduct penalty gave the Fire the ball at the Lake Forest 23. But Knox could only get as far as the 17-yard line before turning it over on downs. The second instance came courtesy of a strip sack by first-year Jordan Hood, who recovered the loose ball at the Foresters 19, only to give the ball right back on a fumble on the next play. The final instance happened in the final minute of the game as Knox pushed past midfield.
After bringing the opening kickoff back to the Knox 43, the Foresters scored less than three minutes into the game, then again with 3:09 left in the first quarter for a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes of action. On the first play of the second quarter, Lake Forest scored the first of four touchdowns before the intermission, the last two coming after the two-minute warning on a 77-yard scoring scamper and a 33-yard touchdown toss, as the Foresters took a 42-0 lead into the locker room.
Two more touchdowns in the third quarter and a 39-yard sprint to the end zone in the fourth completed the scoring.
- Knox's three seniors — running backs Cole Gino and Kierre Turner, and quarterback Reese Miller — were recognized prior to the contest for their contributions to the team over the past four seasons.
- Despite having the advantage in time of possession by nearly 10 minutes, Knox managed just four first downs while Lake Forest recorded 18.
- First-year linebacker Jahprece Joseph led the Prairie Fire defense with seven stops.
- Sophomore punter Fernando Torres had his busiest day of the season with 10 punts averaging 36 yards.
- The Foresters have shut out Knox in each of the last three meetings.
Knox will conclude the 2025 season next Saturday, Nov. 15, when it plays at the Midwest Conference leader, Monmouth College (8-1, 8-0 MWC) in the Turkey Bowl. The game will kick off at noon and will be streamed live with live stats available through the official website of Knox College Athletics, PrairieFire.Knox.edu.
