GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference office announced its Performers of the Week in women's basketball this afternoon with Knox College junior Bria Medina receiving the honor for her performances in two Prairie Fire games last week. This is the fifth time in her career she has earned this honor but first time this season.

A 5-6 point guard from Tucson, Arizona, Medina began the week by scoring a team-high 24 points in a 76-64 loss to Lawrence University in Knox's home opener on Tuesday evening. Four days later, she made sure the Prairie Fire emerged on top, tallying 31 points on 10-of-13 field goals and a perfect 11-of-11 at the foul line in an 88-52 rout of rival Monmouth College. Over the two games, the two-time All-Midwest Conference performer averaged 27.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 60 percent from the floor and 95.0 percent at the charity stripe.

Medina is currently the second-leading scorer in all Division III at 27.0 ppg and leads the Midwest Conference in not only scoring, but field goal percentage (.538), steals per game (2.86), free throws made (52) and attempted (65), and minutes played per game (37.3).

This is the second straight week a Prairie Fire player was honored by the league; sophomore Nayeli Nidez Acuña received the Performer of the Week award last Monday.

Knox will be back on the court tomorrow evening (Dec. 9), when it plays at Millikin University (3-4, 1-1 CCIW) at the Griswold Center with tipoff at 5:30 p.m. The game will be live streamed with stats available through PrairieFire.Knox.edu, the official website of Knox College Athletics, courtesy of Millikin University.
