GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference announced its Performers of the Week for baseball today, and the position player award went to Knox College first-year Hayden Derlein.

A native of Oregon, Wisconsin, Derlein helped the Prairie Fire sweep a doubleheader at Eureka yesterday by scores of 4-3 and 8-3 by going 4-for-6 with a double, walk and a hit by pitch, plus crossed the plate twice in the twinbill. Much of that damage came in the nightcap when the shortstop went 3-for-4 with his two-bagger and scored both of his runs. He has hit safely in all four games thus far while hitting an even .400 on the young season.

The Prairie Fire have opened the season with four straight wins for the first time under head coach Jami Isaacson, now in his 26th year at the helm of the program.

Knox will look to extend its winning streak when they play a doubleheader at Anderson University in Indiana on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. (EDT) with links to the live stream and stats available on the Knox baseball schedule listed on PrairieFire.Knox.edu, the official website of Knox Athletics.
