ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Knox College first-year Thomas Lyaudet earned his spot on the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's golf all-conference first team by virtue of tying for sixth place at the conference championships last week. The top eight finishers received first-team honors, and the next eight are awarded second-team honors.
Lyaudet capped off a fantastic rookie campaign by carding 71-71-73—215 (-1) at the Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana, the lowest score at a conference championship in Knox history. His 72.95 stroke average for the season is the lowest in program history, third in the SLIAC this year and the eighth lowest all-time in the conference annals.
A native of Santiago, Chile, Lyaudet finished among the top 10 in seven of the 10 tournaments this past season, winning medalist honors at the Central Fall Classic last October with a 3-under 141. His lowest round came at the end of April at the Viking Classic where he shot a 4-under 68 in the first round, which tied him for the lowest round by a Prairie Fire golfer this year.
This is the second consecutive year in which Knox had a men's golfer earn a spot on the All-SLIAC First Team. Pranav Nandakumar finished eighth at the championships last year to receive the honor.
The league also announced its All-Sportsmanship Team, which included Prairie Fire sophomore Nathaniel Zug.
