GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference revealed its all-conference teams for baseball today, and Knox College senior Brandon Ward was selected for the second team.

A right-handed pitcher from Chillicothe, Illinois, Ward led the Prairie Fire in a number of statistical categories that also ranked among the top 10 in the MWC — wins (5, tied for fourth), ERA (3.91, fifth), saves (4, tied for fifth) and strikeouts (49, tied for ninth). Four of his five victories came in league play, and those five wins are the most by a Knox pitcher in a dozen years. And in his final game in a Prairie Fire uniform, Ward recorded his first career complete game in the team's only extra-inning contest of the year, going a full 10 innings while striking out a career-high 13 batters (equaling the most by a Knox pitcher over the last quarter century).

Ward wrapped up his career with his name littered throughout the Prairie Fire annals, ranking third in strikeouts (150), tied for third in saves (6), tied for fourth in innings pitched (170.1) and fifth in appearances (51). He was 11-13 in his four years with a 6.29 ERA.

This is the second straight season Knox has placed a player on the All-MWC Second Team with Evan Laws garnering the honor last year.
