Prairie Fire Fall Short After Second Half Push

DECORAH, IOWA - The Prairie Fire fell behind in the first half and they did not give in as they answered with a pair of goals in the second half, but eventually fell 4-2 against the top team in the Midwest Conference.

Luther jumped on top of the Prairie Fire early in the contest as they scored just under 11 minutes into the conference clash. The Norse did not stop there as they tacked on three more goals in the first half, making it 4-0 at the break.

Santiago Henriques got Knox on the scoreboard just ten minutes into the second half, sparking a little life into the squad.

The Prairie Fire defense was able to keep Luther from tacking on any more goals, but they were unable to get much pressure on the offensive end. Thomas Sanchez Madden got Knox on the scoreboard again in the 88th minute, but the late score was too little too late as the Prairie Fire fell 4-2.

The tough Luther squad made it tough for Knox to get much going offensively, but they are the first Midwest Conference team to score more than one goal against the Norse.

Knox's loss brings them to 2-3-2 in Midwest Conference play and they trail Lawrence by just one point in the standings. The Prairie Fire will return to the pitch on Wednesday at home when they take on Wisconsin Eau-Claire at 6:00 p.m. at Jorge Prats Field.
