Knox Battles for Draw on the Road at Luther

DECORAH, IOWA - The Prairie Fire put on a brilliant display of resilience at Luther as they held the top team in the conference to just one goal and buried one of their own in the 82nd minute to take home a 1-1 draw against the Vikings.

Luther took a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute, but the Prairie Fire responded with a timely equalizer from Analeis Ming in the 81st minute that was set up by Aniela Rossi. The 81st minute strike helped the Prairie Fire pull off a huge result on the road in Midwest Conference play.

Bri Mahoney played a vital role in keeping the Prairie Fire within striking distance throughout the contest, recording four saves against a Luther attack that produced 12 shots. Knox finished with four shots of its own, putting three on target.

Ming's goal late in the contest was an incredible feat in multiple ways as it tied up the contest against the top team in the Midwest Conference, and it was also the first goal that the Vikings conceded in conference play. The undefeated Vikings have not given up a goal until Ming's shot in the 81st minute since Sept. 20.

Following the equalizer, Luther put Knox's defense to the test. Mahoney was tasked with making a pair of saves in the final minutes of the contest to secure the draw.

The draw brings Knox to 4-2-1 in the Midwest Conference and they sit in fourth place, three points ahead of fifth and three points behind third.

The Prairie Fire will have a week-long break before hosting Monmouth on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. on Homecoming week at Knox College.
