EDINBURGH, IN - The Knox Prairie Fire took on the SLIAC Championship for the first time since 2021, and a strong final day saw them surpass Blackburn for eighth place.

Ella Suchomel's incredible improvement throughout the tournament propelled the Prairie Fire into an eighth place finish at the SLIAC Championship. Suchomel improved her scores each round, and her final round was 13 strokes lower than her day one score. Just like day two, Suchomel found a par on the par three hole 11 late in her round.

Alexys Davis logged the best three rounds for Knox as she placed 30th in the three day event.

Khizran Fatima also saw improvements throughout the tournament as she dropped her score by two strokes each day, and Taylor Snyder finished one spot higher than Fatima on the leaderboard.

The Prairie Fire have not competed in the conference tournament since 2021, and they did not disappoint. They fought their way into an eighth place finish after overcoming a 10 stroke gap after the first day of competition.

When asked about the tournament Preston Roth said, "It was good to finally have Knox Women's Golf at a Championship event this past weekend. All four women shot their personal best throughout the weekend and we saw progress as a team each day as well as moving up in the leaderboard. It was fun to see the girls compete and accomplish some of the goals that we had put together prior to the event. The team showed some great things through the week and we are excited to get to work at Soangetaha Country Club this week to work on the things that will really take our games to the next level. Our next match is against Alverno on October 16, and I am excited to see the team compete for a win!"
