The Prairie Fire (2-13) baseball team wrapped the weekend in Florida at the Russ Matt Central Florida Invite, going 1-3. Knox ends its time in Florida on Monday morning, taking on Union.
The Prairie Fire's lone victory of the weekend came when the squad topped Carleton 7-6 in 10 innings.
Earlier in that game, Knox led 6-2 going to the bottom of the ninth, but Carleton rallied, tying the game with four runs.
Tyler Kemp's RBI single scored Miles Hoops in the 10th, putting Knox back in the lead.
In the bottom of the 10th, Shannon Patrick (1-2) retired the side in order to secure the win.
Andrew Garrett and Jake Baker shone on the mound, combining to toss eight innings of two-run, six-strikeout ball.
Driving in two runs each, Jacob Halseth and Clayton Rice powered the offense. Rice finished with four hits, while Luke Mathieu, Hayden Derlein, and Halseth contributed two hits apiece.
Despite tough losses over the weekend, Knox looks to build on their hard-fought win with its final game in Florida before returning home.
