Knox College topped Monmouth in 14 innings on Saturday but fell on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 15-6 contest to the Fighting Scots in the second game of a three-game set. The two teams meet on Monday to determine the series winner.

On Sunday, Monmouth wasted little time jumping ahead, scoring six runs in the second inning. Knox answered back with two in the bottom of the inning on RBIs from Nicholas Nitti and Hayden Derlein, but Monmouth struck for two more in the third to capture back the six-run edge.

After a scoreless fourth, the Fighting Scots tacked on two in the fifth. But Knox answered back with a three-spot in the sixth as Andrew Garrett, Nitti, and Derlein all had run-scoring hits. The 10-5 deficit would be as close as the Prairie Fire (5-22, 3-7) would get, though, as Monmouth tacked on three in the seventh and two in the ninth.

Caysen Bamford capped the Prairie Fire's scoring in the ninth when he scored on a passed ball.

Nitti and Derlein paced the offense, and each tallied two RBI. Jacob Halseth collected three hits, while Derlein and Garrett each added a pair.
