GALESBURG, IL - The Lake Forest Foresters came to the Knosher Bowl to take on the Prairie Fire in their home opener, establishing their high powered offense from the start, but that did not keep Knox from displaying their own offensive capabilities in the 68-12 Lake Forest win.

Lake Forest jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Knox did not flinch. On their second drive of the game, Karter Krutsinger dropped back and found Marcus Carter streaking down the field for a 70-yard pass and run down to the five yard line, setting up Izayiah Hawes for a touchdown on the goalline.

The Prairie Fire defense adapted in the second quarter as they forced a pair of punts on back-to-back drives by getting the Foresters behind the chains early in possessions.

The Foresters held a 35-6 lead over Knox as the two Midwest Conference foes went into the halftime break, but it did not take Lake Forest long to get their offense going again in the second half as they tacked on four more touchdowns in the third quarter.

Knox got one of their own when Nick Williams launched a deep ball down the Lake Forest sideline that found Shondray Dixon wide open for a 75-yard touchdown pass.

Lake Forest went on to beat the Prairie Fire 68-12. Knox broke their three year scoreless streak against the Foresters.

Krutsinger and Williams combined for 257 passing yards. Carter hauled in two catches for 119 yards.

Isaiah Liptac was all over the field for the Prairie Fire again, racking up 10 total tackles and increasing his team leading tally to 23. Abdul Bangura played a huge role in the contest for Knox as he made six total tackles and booted eight nice punts, flipping the field for Knox. He downed four within the 20 yard line and had two 50 plus yard punts.

The Prairie Fire will be back in action next Saturday, on the road at Ripon, with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
