Adam Ries is entering his eighth season at Knox College. He is now the Co-Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Defensive Line Coach. He spent two seasons coaching the Quarterbacks and also previously coached the Wide Receivers.
Under the direction of Ries, Ean Rau and Kendall Ballman earned Second Team All-Midwest Conference in 2022. Rau also earned Second Team All-Midwest Conference in 2021. Previously, QB Grant Graham finished third in the conference in 2019 in passing yards and touchdowns. Ries also coached All-Midwest Conference performer Hunter Lee in 2018.
Prior to joining the Prairie Fire coaching staff in the spring of 2017, Ries spent two years as a Graduate Assistant at Illinois Wesleyan University. Ries coached the Wide Receivers including one first team All-CCIW Conference selection in 2015.
Ries earned his Master's in Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity from Illinois State University.
Prior to working at Illinois Wesleyan, Ries spent five seasons coaching at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He graduated from River Falls in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism. He spent his senior season as a Student Assistant coaching Tight Ends and remained on staff to coach the Wide Receivers for four more seasons. During his time he coach 3 All-WIAC selections at Wide Receiver.
Ries is a native of Hastings, Minnesota.
