A standout linebacker and wrestler for the Prairie Fire during the early '70s, Dave McKillip joined the Knox coaching staff in 2004 as the Linebackers coach before making the switch to the Defensive Line coach in 2009. The 2020 campaign will mark his 17th year of coaching.

During his playing career at Knox, the Galesburg native was a two-time All-Midwest Conference selection at Linebacker. He was also won the 1973 Tom Dean Award, as the Outstanding Player in the Knox-Monmouth football game, and was voted as the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player that year as well.

On the sidelines, Coach McKillip has produced a combined twelve All-Midwest Conference Linebackers and Defensive Linemen. Under his direction in 2008, Tighe Burke was named to the All-American team, after leading NCAA Division III in sacks.

Dave and his wife Dia live at their lake house on Lake Bracken.
