Knox College Prairie Fire

Garrett Rau was hired as the defensive backs coach in 2021 after a successful playing career for the Prairie Fire football team. 

Rau spent 2020 as an assistant coach at Galesburg High School where he also teaches chemistry for the Galesburg School District. While coaching there, he worked with the defensive backs, wide receivers, and served as the special teams coordinator. 

In his playing career with the Prairie Fire, Rau was a three-year starter in the defensive backfield and handled the punting duties for the team. A captain his senior year, he was selected as an All-Midwest Conference performer as a defensive back in 2018 and 2019. He also received All-Midwest Conference honors as a punter in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The 2020 graduate double majored in Chemistry and Secondary Education.

Rau is a native of Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
