Michael Montes joined the Prairie Fire athletic training staff in the fall of 2017. Prior to graduating from Northern Illinois University, he worked as an athletic training intern with the University of Arizona football team. After graduation he worked as a Certified Intern ATC for the Windy City Thunderbolts professional baseball team. His responsibilities with Arizona were assisting with rehabilitation, evaluating injuries and administering therapeutic modalities while covering spring practices and workouts. As an ATC intern with the Thunderbolts, he was responsible for coverage of practices and home games. Montes also gained clinical experience as a student trainer at Northern Illinois, Sycamore High School, and Moraine Valley Community College.
