Scott Sunderland, M.S., ATC, head athletic trainer and assistant athletic director, guides the care and prevention of athletic injury and illness for the 20 varsity teams at Knox College.

Sunderland's duties include the supervision of a medial support staff, assistant trainers, and a staff of student-workers.  The prevention program emphasizes counseling on nutrition, ergogenic aids, drugs and training, and conditioning.  The head athletic trainer also teaches a class on care and prevention of athletic injuries, participates in various independent studies and interneships in the field of sports medicine for Knox students, and directs the Blood Borne Pathogens Education Program.
