J.C. Wise joined the Prairie Fire coaching staff in the fall of 2018.
Wise, a graduate of nearby R.O.V.A. High School, served as the head golf coach at Woodstock and Woodstock North High Schools from 1994-2016. He is the winningest golf coach in Woodstock history and was inducted into the Illinois Golf Coach Hall of Fame in 2015. In 2007 he led the Blue Streaks to a Regional Championship. His teams also qualified for Sectionals in 1997 and 2004 and won the Fox Valley Conference championship in 1998. Wise has also coached basketball, volleyball, track, and football over his career.
In addition to his coaching career, Wise taught Physical Education at Cambridge High School and Physical Education and Driver's Education at Woodstock and Woodstock North High Schools. He has also worked as a rules official for the IHSA state tournament and the Big Ten and Pac-10 conferences. He was a director with the Chicago District Golf Association from 2005-2014 and currently serves as an alumni director.
Wise's wife Jane is a fifth generation Knox College graduate and his father Bill is a member of the Illinois Football Coaches Hall of Fame after a 30+ year career at R.O.V.A./R.O.W.V.A. High School.
