Knox College Prairie Fire

Palmer had a perfect day last Saturday, winning all four of the matches he played in against Simpson College and North Central College to help Knox sweep the two schools at Lakeside Tennis Center in Galesburg.

Palmer is the latest recipient of the Prairie Fire Performer of the Week Award for his effort.

Palmer defeated Peter Reitgraf of Simpson 6-1, 6-3 in their #3 singles match.  He then paired up with #1 doubles partner, sophomore  Karl Ruzgas (Downers Grove, IL, Downers Grove North), to beat the Storm’s Alex Hook and Blake Billings 8-1.  The Prairie Fire snapped a string of three straight losses by downing Simpson 6-3.

Palmer won his second #3 singles match of the day against North Central’s Josh Rodig 6-3, 6-2.  He and Ruzgas rolled to an 8-2 victory over Adam Ciccone and Mason Sass of the Cardinals.

Knox split the six singles matches against the Cardinals and prevailed in two of the three doubles matches to defeat North Central 5-4.  The Prairie Fire improved their record to 4-3 on the season with the wins.

Palmer leads Knox with a 5-1 singles record while he and Ruzgas moved to 6-1 in doubles play.
