Kelly Ricketts '12Knox College wanted to even the score with Greenville College Thursday night after the Panthers won the previous match between the teams earlier this month, but it was Greenville prevailing in three games at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Panthers (10-5) scored the first four points of the first game and went on to take it 25-20.  Knox, down at one point 10-4, came back to tie the score at 14-14 and 15-15 before Greenville scored 10 of the next 15 points to claim a 25-20 victory and go up 1-0.

Greenville scored on a service ace and on an attack error to take a 2-0 lead and never looked back in the second game, winning 25-15.

Knox (5-10) scored two of the first three points in the third game, but the Panthers scored 11 straight points to take a 12-2 lead.  The Prairie Fire couldn't muster a significant rally in the game and lost 25-9.

Greenville and Knox met September 11 in Greenville, a match also won by the Panthers 3-0.

Junior Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, Illinois) had 15 kills and four digs for Knox.  First-year hitter Kaylie Prince (Westminster, Colorado) added five kills, four digs and two aces.  First-year setter Nina Mack (Algonquin, Illinois) contributed 20 assists.

Ansley DeVrieze and Jessica Dothager led Greenville with eight kills apiece, Katelin Feyerabend added seven and Tricia Gall six.  DeVrieze accounted for four of her team's nine aces and contributed nine digs.  Alyssa Cliffe also had nine digs for the Panthers and setter Janell Crow recorded 25 assists.

The Prairie Fire will try to put the brakes on a four-match losing skid Tuesday in a Midwest Conference match at Monmouth College.

The Fighting Scots (11-6, 1-0 MWC) are coming off a 3-2 win September 28 at home against Illinois College.  Monmouth has won two of its last three matches -- a victory against Cornell and a loss to Bowdoin -- both in Wheaton, Illinois September 25, prior to the win against the Lady Blues.

Knox has dropped its two Midwest Conference matches played to date:  3-0 at Illinois College September 22 and 3-1 against Beloit College September 28 in the Prairie Fire's home opener.
