Knox and Illinois College played to a scoreless draw until the 70th minute when the Prairie Fire's Emma Swanson, a junior from West Des Moines, Iowa, scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in a 1-0 triumph in Jacksonville, Illinois.  The victory snapped a string of four straight losses.

Both teams got off several shots:  16 by the Lady Blues and 11 by Knox.  All but two of IC's and 10 of the Fire's shots were on goal, resulting in a lot of saves for the goalies.First-year net minder Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, Minnesota) had 14 saves and earned the shutout for Knox.

The win was the first in Midwest Conference play for the Prairie Fire and it improved the team's overall record to 6-7.  Impressively, the victory was Knox College's fourth on the road in five matches.
