Box Score

St. Norbert College and Knox squared off on Sunday in Galesburg.  The Green Knights had a big first half with four goals and prevailed 6-0.  The loss was the fourth in a row for Knox, which saw its record drop to 5-7 overall and 0-4 in Midwest Conference play.

St. Norbert dominated the match, outshooting Knox 14-3 overall and 10-1 on goal.  The lone shot on goal by the Prairie Fire was by Swanson.  First-year goalie Rachael Koene (Golden Valley, Minnesota) had six saves for the Fire.  The Knights' six goals were scored by six different people.

Knox, which has had success on the road with three wins in four matches, travels to Jacksonville, Illinois to play Illinois College Saturday at 11 a.m.  The Lady Blues own a 2-8-1 overall record and - like Knox - are winless in league play with an 0-3 record.  I.C. has lost five straight going into its MWC match Thursday afternoon at Beloit College.  The Buccaneers are also struggling with a 2-8 overall record and an 0-4 mark in MWC play.

Knox next plays at home Sunday in a non-conference match against a very good Elmhurst University team.  The Blue Jays have a 6-2-1 record, but could be vulnerable on the road.  Elmhurst has lost two of its three matches away from home.  Elmhurst goalie Allison Korbel has allowed just six goals, an impressive goals against average of 0.64.

The Knox match against Elmhurst on Sunday begins at 1 p.m., following the Knox men's soccer team's Midwest Conference match against Grinnell College at 11 a.m. Sunday.
