Knox College stayed close with Westminster College for most of the match, but three goals over the final 20 minutes kept the Prairie Fire winless on the season with a 5-1 defeat Saturday at Jorge Prats Field.

Knox held Westminster without a goal until the 31:17 mark, when Ronald Moore scored off of a throw-in from Kyle Varner to make it 1-0.  The Prairie Fire got stung by an identical play in the 40th minute when the same two Blue Jays connected to make it a 2-0 Westminster lead.

Knox (0-5) got on the board at 47:20 when first-year midfielder Maxwell Gatyas (Plymouth, Wisconsin) scored his first goal of the season unassisted to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Westminster (3-1), however, scored three times over the final 20 minutes to claim the win.

The Blue Jays outshot Knox 11-4 in the first half and 18-7 overall.  The Prairie Fire got just two shots off against Westminster goal keeper Taylor Webb.  Knox netminder, sophomore Robert Porter (Tucson, Arizona), had five saves before he departed at 84:41 and junior Eric Denson (St. Louis, Missouri) saw his first minutes of the season.

Knox resumes play on its home field Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against Lincoln Christian University.
