Women's Basketball Earns Season Split with Beloit

Knox was unable to sweep the season series against Beloit College as the Buccaneers won on their home floor 77-68. 

The Prairie Fire, after trailing 31-29 at halftime, saw the Buccaneers (5-9, 3-6 MWC) shoot 62 percent and score 46 points in the second half.  Beloit made all five of its three-point shot attempts and connected on 15-of-19 free throws over the final 20 minutes to win the game.

Knox (5-11, 4-7 MWC) shot 35 percent overall from the floor and 21-of-25 from the foul line.

Haskell again led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds.  Ricketts added 14 points, sophomore Sara Johnson (Grinnell, Iowa) had 12 and junior Krystyna Williams (Evanston, Illinois) contributed 10 points.

The Fire split with the Bucs after winning 65-56 January 14 at home.

Illinois College visits Memorial Gymnasium Saturday in a game that tips off at 5:00.  The Lady Blues (8-7, 6-4 MWC) have dropped two straight after winning three in a row.  I-C lost 70-66 Friday night on the road at Carroll University and 65-52 the following day at St. Norbert College.

The game will mark the 12th for the Lady Blues away from home.  Illinois College is 5-6 in road games so far this season.
