GALESBURG – Knox College guard Bria Medina continues to collect honors after her season ended.
On Monday, Medina was named to the NCAA Division III Region 9 First Team, an honor recognizing the top players in the region for exceptional performance throughout the season. Medina is the first Knox women's basketball player to ever earn a first-team honor.
Medina was second in Division III in points per game this season, averaging 23.6, while her 614 total points were fourth. Her 199 made free throws led the county.
Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-America selection. There is no separate nomination process.
This is the 25th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team, and this year's All-America team will be the 29th annual All-America selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
The women's All-America team will be announced prior to the Division III basketball championship game on Saturday, March 22.
