The Prairie Fire, trying to play the role of spoiler, lost 3-0 Friday night at Lake Forest College.

The Foresters (11-10, 4-1 MWC), vying for a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament on November 4 and 5, won the first set 25-16.  Lake Forest held off Knox in the second set 25-22 before claiming the third set 25-18.

The Foresters sit alone in second place behind St. Norbert College (21-5, 6-0 MWC) in the conference standings with one loss.  Grinnell College and Monmouth College are tied for third with 6-2 league records, followed by Lawrence University at 5-2.

First-year hitter Katie White (Peoria, Illinois) led the Prairie Fire (0-22, 0-8 MWC) with a season-best eight kills.  Senior Stef Baker (Galesburg, Illinois) and sophomore Kaylie Prince (Westminster, Colorado) had five kills apiece. 

Sophomore Nina Mack (Algonquin, Illinois) added 17 assists while Prince and senior Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, Illinois) each had nine digs for the Fire.

Knox plays at Beloit College (0-19, 0-6 MWC) on October 22 at 1:00 p.m.
